On a national level, a fast train system is proposed, to minimize travel time between inner and coastal cities.

A network of bicycle-and-pedestrian-paths is introduced attached to train system making local travel easily accessible and allowing rich cross-functional, inter-urban and inter-regional networks making the creation of common ground possible

REFORMATTING TOURISM

In a hypothetical scenario of a global collapse of the tourist industry, the consequences will be the progressive decline and disuse of the tourist infrastructure with effects on the social, economic and environmental aspects of everyday life.

This proposal is based on a strategy of recycling and reusing in order to accommodate new alternative uses for locals and visitors.

4 H(OUR) LOCALS

Typically, tourists are transported from their coastal resorts to Nicosia, the capital city, for a limited period of four hours and with the sole purpose of visiting important sites in what may be termed “landmark hoping”.

Through ‘opportunistic' spatial interventions on the way from one location to the other, the proposal attempts to slow down the pace and to encourage opportunities for pause, interaction and collective activity.
